Journey House, Green Bay Packer's Ray Nitschke Practice Field

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

JSD provided engineering services for the relocation of the synthetic turf of the Green Bay Packer’s Ray Nitschke practice field. The synthetic turf football field was donated to Journey House by the Green Packers and installed in Mitchell Park in the City of Milwaukee through a cooperative agreement with the Milwaukee County Park System.

The field will serve as the home field for the Journey House Youth Football and Cheerleading Program and League. This league serves over 500 youth, ages 6-14, representing a cross-section of ethnically-diverse, low-income kids from Milwaukee’s inner city.

Started in 2005, the Journey House Football Program was designed to provide a safe, fun, and competitive activity for youth. The program accomplished a milestone this past season with all three Journey House Packer teams winning their respective division level championships. Established in 1969, Journey House is grounded in the philosophy that "Education is a Family Journey". They embody this belief through their mission of working with the community utilizing a self-help philosophy in order to increase education, reduce unemployment and crime, strengthen families, and revitalize neighborhoods.
