University of Wisconsin-Madison Grainger Hall Addition

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

JSD completed an existing conditions survey for the east side addition of Grainger Hall, the new home for the School of Business Master of Business Administration (MBA) program. Field work consisted of collecting electronic data of existing topography and utility features, and a boundary survey. The data was used to develop AutoCAD base maps for architectural design of the proposed building expansion. JSD staff worked with the physical plant supervisors to obtain all utility information within project limits, and added private underground utilities to the survey map. Staff provided detailed drawings of steam tunnel vaults, water pits, communication vaults, and electrical vaults.

The addition, located on Park Street between Johnson Street and University Avenue, is expected to be complete by the time the fall semester 2008 begins. The new 125,000 square-foot facility will cost $40 million and will allow separation between undergraduate and graduate programs. Work was performed for the State of Wisconsin, Department of Administration (DOA).
