Pheasant Branch Trail System

Location: Middleton, Wisconsin

JSD provided planning, landscape architecture, grant writing, engineering, and surveying services to support improvements to the City of Middleton’s Pheasant Branch Trail system. The project included upgrading and re-aligning western segments of the trail system to improve connectivity between neighborhoods, pedestrian safety, and the protection of high quality oak savannah habitat in the conservancy. JSD created trail design elements that accomplished the objectives and met AASHTO requirements.

JSD has also provided services in the development of the Pheasant Branch East Trail and Park Street to Parmenter Street Trail Corridor. Our staff developed trail layouts and identified bridge locations to accommodate wetlands and flood hazard areas. Additionally, JSD staff aided the City of Middleton with the Wisconsin DOT Transportation Enhancement Grant which provided over $200,000 towards trail improvements along the Pheasant Branch Trail.
