Promega Campus Master Planning

The Promega Corporation, one of the Madison’s most successful homegrown companies, is a world leader in biotechnology research and in providing innovative solutions and technical support to the life sciences industry.

Over the course of two decades, JSD has continually worked in collaboration with Promega Corporation in their campus planning efforts and obtaining land use entitlements for their corporate headquarters located in Fitchburg, Wisconsin. This roughly 200-acre campus incorporates multiple high-tech research and development laboratories and biotechnology production facilities. The campus integrates sustainable stormwater management and preservation of wetland and woodland habitats. In providing campus planning assistance, JSD plays a key role on a design team that is focused on integrated site design, providing innovative and timeless architecture, and environmental resources management and sustainability.

Key components of the Promega Campus include the Agora Center, a central gathering space that includes a wellness center, retail community, ideation center, and administrative offices; the Prairie Swale, a centrally-located, seven-acre prairie restoration and stormwater management project that began in 2000; the Feynman Center (pictured above), which is dedicated to biotechnology manufacturing; the Biotechnology Pharmaceutical Center that houses state-of-the-art manufacturing and testing facilities; and the Woods Hollow Childrens Center, a nonprofit childcare facility available to Promega employees.
